To ona tworzy podwaliny post oświeceniowego świata.

Working on the duet “Balance of democracy” became a space for exploring the concept of democracy, in such politically difficult times for Poland? I realised that in order to maintain a democratic system, one needs to maintain a state of constant balance in society. In order to achieve a state of calm and composure, one must experience equilibrium, that is, a state of the body in which the forces acting on it cancel each other out, so they do not cause movement, and this is so intriguing. On a symbolic level, I discovered the physical sign of two bodies alternating from standing on their hands to standing on their feet. The inverted body position is difficult, but it can be tamed and treated equally as standing on one’s own feet. I find it fascinating to constantly be in between these states. This has become a starting point for understanding the mechanisms of a democratic system that is so very fragile and delicate. It is only 33 years since the Round Table Agreement in 1989, when the political system changed in Poland. The transition from a communist to a democratic system. The principle of national sovereignty is a fundamental democratic principle enshrined in every constitution of a democratic state. Its fundamental criterion is the assumption that the source of power is the nation (all citizens of the state), which is the sovereign entitled to decide on matters of supreme state importance. We are living at the threshold of a breakdown of democratic principles in Poland. The Constitution, which takes precedence over all other legal acts in the state, is being violated in Poland. Thus, the Constitution of the United States has also become the starting point for research. It forms the foundations of the post-Enlightenment world. It is the forerunner of democratic thought. There is still a dispute over the rule of law between Poland and the EU. So much so that Poland is bearing the financial consequences. The situation in Poland is deteriorating with regard to the functioning of the legislative and electoral system, the independence of the judiciary and the rights of judges, the protection of state rights, violations of human rights including, inter alia, discrimination against sexual minorities. There are, among others, homophobic statements by leading Polish politicians, which contribute to strengthening the atmosphere of dislike towards people of different sexual orientation than the majority.
