DZIĘKUJĘ ANNA PIOTROWSKA
tekst pożegnalny
PL
Drodzy Widzowie, Przyjaciele Teatru Rozbark, Artystki i Artyści, Współpracowniczki i Współpracownicy, Partnerzy i Partnerki,
Pracowaliśmy w niezwykłej przestrzeni Cechowni – miejscu naznaczonym historią pracy i przemysłu – próbując nadać jej nowe życie poprzez ciało, ruch, sztukę i spotkanie.
To właśnie tę praktykę chcę dalej rozwijać. Poszerzać pola eksploracji kompozycji, improwizacji, dramaturgii i pracy z ciałem. Szukać nowych sposobów budowania relacji pomiędzy artystą, performerem, widzem i przestrzenią. Łączyć doświadczenie artystyczne z pedagogiką, badaniem i praktyką społeczną.
Nadal będę rozwijać własną praktykę artystyczną i badawczą, pracować z ciałem jako żywym archiwum, z wiedzą ucieleśnioną, z relacją i wspólnotą. Nadal prowadzę również Fundację Rozwoju Tańca, z którą chcę realizować kolejne projekty artystyczne, edukacyjne i społeczne – w Polsce i poza jej granicami.
I otwieram drzwi nadziei.
Na nowe spotkania.
Nowe idee.
Nowe współprace.
Nowe miejsca.
Do zobaczenia.

Dear Audiences, Friends of Rozbark Theatre, Artists, Colleagues, Partners, and Collaborators,
After seven years of leading Rozbark Theatre, the time has come for me to close one door behind me.
Yet this is not a farewell to a place that has become such an important part of my life. It is rather a moment to pause, to look back, and to express my gratitude for the journey I have shared with so many of you.
When I took on the leadership of Rozbark Theatre, it was a place of enormous potential, but also one facing many challenges. Over the years, together we built its identity, its programme, its relationships, and its place in Bytom, in Silesia, and within the dance community in Poland. We worked in the extraordinary space of the Cechownia – a place marked by the history of labour and industry – seeking to give it new life through the body, movement, art, and encounter.
I have always believed, and continue to believe, that a theatre is more than a building or a repertoire. It is a community of people. It is a space for encounter, risk, dialogue, wonder, and sometimes disagreement. It is a place where we can see ourselves and others a little differently.
That is why I would especially like to thank all those who have contributed to Rozbark over the years – artists, members of the theatre team, colleagues, educators, producers, technicians, partners, volunteers, and all those who have helped shape this place. Thank you to those who were with us for many years, and to those who appeared only for a moment, leaving their own trace behind.
Thank you, our Audiences. For your presence. For your curiosity. For the conversations after performances. For your trust, especially when we proposed things that were unconventional, demanding, or left us with more questions than answers. Without you, theatre is never complete.
I am equally grateful to all the institutions, organisations, and partners with whom we had the opportunity to work – in Bytom, across Silesia, throughout Poland, and beyond its borders. Thank you for your trust, openness, and willingness to create together. Through these relationships, Rozbark was able to reach beyond its own walls and become part of a wider artistic and social network.
I am particularly grateful that we managed to create a place where dance was not merely an art form, but also a way of thinking about the human being, relationships, community, and the world around us.
An important part of my work – as an artist, educator, and director – has always been about creating conditions in which people can awaken their own creativity, attentiveness, and empathy. I believe in knowledge that emerges through encounter, in sharing experience, and in the possibility of learning from one another. I am interested in creating situations in which everyone can discover their own language while, at the same time, becoming part of a shared process.
This is the practice I want to continue developing. To expand the fields of exploration through composition, improvisation, dramaturgy, and embodied practice. To search for new ways of creating relationships between the artist, the performer, the audience, and space. To connect artistic practice with education, research, and social engagement.
I leave Rozbark with a deep sense of gratitude for what was possible. For the people I met. For the artists I was able to invite. For the ideas that found their way into the world. For the situations that taught me more than I could have expected.
Not everything was easy. Not everything succeeded. But I believe it was worth trying. And I believe it is worth continuing to try.
On 1 September 2026, I open another chapter.
I will remain in Silesia – as a professor at the Faculty of Dance Theatre in Bytom at the Stanisław Wyspiański National Academy of Theatre Arts, and as a choreographer, director, and performer. I will continue to develop my artistic and research practice, working with the body as a living archive, with embodied knowledge, relationship, and community. I will also continue to lead the Foundation for the Development of Dance, through which I hope to develop and co-create further artistic, educational, and social projects – in Poland and beyond.
I do not yet know exactly where these new paths will lead me.
And that is a good thing.
Because perhaps this is what development is about – not having all the answers, but having the courage to open another door.
So today, I close the door of gratitude.
With gratitude for everything that happened at Rozbark.
And I open the door of hope.
To new encounters.
New ideas.
New collaborations.
New places.
New bodies in motion.
New stories I do not yet know.
I hope we will meet on the other side of these doors.
See you there.
